The instructor II is a per diem position. You will work on as needed basis. The pay range for this position is $28-33/hr. There are no health benefits, sick time is accrued based on hours worked.

The Instructor II (Field) delivers high-quality air traffic control (ATC) training at Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) field sites. Working with minimal direct supervision and in close collaboration with FAA personnel, the Instructor II conducts classroom instruction, simulation training, and contributes to the design and development of ATC training curriculum. This position requires a strong understanding of ATC procedures and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct and administer a variety of classroom courses at FAA field locations.
• Deliver engaging and effective instruction across multiple courses, incorporating various teaching methodologies.
• Conduct realistic and challenging simulation training scenarios.
• Participate in Instructional Systems Design (ISD) projects, including the development, revision, and maintenance of ATC training courses and scenario development.
• Collaborate effectively with FAA personnel to ensure training aligns with operational needs and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain currency in ATC procedures, regulations, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience as a Certified Professional Controller actively controlling live air traffic.
• Or 5 years Recent experience as a contract instructor at an FAA facility.
• Recent experience (either controller or instructor) must be at the same type and level of ATC facility (e.g., Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC), Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON)) as the facility requesting training support. This ensures relevant and applicable training delivery.
• Ability to obtain and maintain ATC Simulator Certification for the specific facility requiring training support.
• Ability to successfully complete a government background investigation and obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Aviation Management, Education, Human Factors).
• Experience with instructional design methodologies and tools.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations and procedures.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
