Job Description

As the Controller , you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control for our construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting , job costing, and financial analysis to support business decisions and maintain profitability.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting , ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Review and resolve any subcontract issues. This position maintains resposibilities for signatures
• Manage job costing, budgeting, and forecasting to optimize financial performance.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
• Establish and create weekly scorecards with KPIs
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements .
• Monitor cash flow and ensure proper financial controls are in place.
• Work closely with project managers to analyze job costs and profitability.
• Oversee change orders valuations, issuance, and proper customer sign offs
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial standards .
• Assist in strategic planning and financial decision-making.
• Implement and maintain accounting systems and software.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 
• 5+ years of experience in an accounting or controller role (construction industry experience strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of construction job costing and project-based accounting .
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 300 (Timberline), or Viewpoint .
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax compliance .
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills .
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively with non-financial team members.
