Summary

The Colwell Consulting Group is seeking a Dealership Controller for one of its clients in North Georgia. As a Dealership Controller, you will oversee the financial operations of the dealership, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Your core responsibilities include cash management, financial report writing, and balance sheet reconciliation. You will lead a team, utilizing your strong organizational and communication skills to enhance financial management practices. With your expertise in accounting and payroll, you will contribute to the dealership's financial health and strategic planning. MUST HAVE PREVIOUS DEALERSHIP CONTROLLER EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED!

Financial Management & Accounting

  • Initiate and manage a cash management system, including reconciliations of bank and financial statements
  • Manage the recording of cash, checks, and all deposit-related activities
  • Monitor floorplan activity and balances
  • Supervise and review the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, address reconciling items with staff, and follow up through completion
  • Complete reconciliations and review schedules/reports with management.
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, schedules, documents, and reports.
  • Ensure AP & AR billings are completed on time each month.
  • Verify all expenditures against line items and update the CFO as needed.
  • Supervise and instruct employees in the performance of accounting, financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and expenditure duties
  • Assist the CFO/GM in annual budget preparation, annual capital expenditures, and other budget activities
  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts for all departments
  • Coordinate and prepare for financial audits
  • Organize and maintain accurate financial records
  • Reconcile and submit monthly sales tax
  • Perform timely month-end close duties and submit OEM financial statement
  • Perform expense trend and cost of sale reviews on a regular basis and review with leadership.
  • Prepare and post monthly accruals monthly
  • Prepare, analyze, and post monthly commissions
  • Prepare and submit payroll
  • Assist the dealership’s leadership team in reading and interpreting their financial reports and responding to requests for information and assistance in a timely manner

Compliance & Dealership Operations

  • Manage deal flow between FI and Accounting
  • Supervise the compliance administrator and assist with deal flow and resolving problem deals and CIT issues.
  • Organize office operations and procedures.
  • Attend manager meetings regarding dealership operations, deal flow, CIT, and asset reviews.
  • Manage daily operations of AP, AR, Inventory, and Tag/Title. Ensure transactions are recorded timely and have proper approval.
  • Complete and reconcile physical vehicle inventories each month
  • Assist other department managers in the month-end close process
  • Reinforces company policies and adheres to company standards
  • Ensures proper internal controls are in place

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • 10+ years of automotive accounting experience (Required)
  • 5+ years as an Automotive Franchise Dealership Controller (Required)
  • Reynolds & Reynolds experience is required
  • Experience in financial analysis, reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of GAAP and common accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel
