Job Title: Loan Officer

Location: Walkersville MD

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Branch Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and driven Loan Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, authorizing, or recommending approval of commercial, real estate, or credit loans. This role involves a blend of customer service, financial analysis, and sales, aimed at providing clients with suitable loan products while ensuring the financial soundness of the loan portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with clients to understand their financial needs and recommend suitable loan products.

Loan Application Processing: Assist clients in completing loan applications, ensuring all necessary documents and information are collected and accurately processed.

Credit Analysis: Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.

Loan Recommendation: Evaluate and recommend loan approval or denial based on sound risk assessment and adherence to company policies.

Sales and Marketing: Promote loan products and services to prospective clients through various channels, including networking and community outreach.

Compliance Adherence: Ensure all lending activities comply with federal and state regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Loan Structuring: Provide guidance on loan terms and conditions, interest rates, and repayment plans to meet clients' needs and maximize the bank's profitability.

Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate records of all loan applications, approvals, denials, and customer interactions.

Problem Resolution: Address client inquiries, resolve issues related to loan processing, and manage delinquent accounts as needed.

Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, loan products, and competitive offerings to provide informed recommendations to clients.

Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on loan portfolio performance, including delinquency rates and loan profitability.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience in loan processing or sales may be considered.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in loan processing, underwriting, or sales within the financial services industry.

Proven track record in a customer service or sales role is highly desirable.

Skills:

Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.

Certifications: Certification in mortgage lending or a related field is a plus.

Other Requirements:

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client meetings.

Ability to pass a background check and credit check.

Working Conditions:

Environment: Office setting with some travel to meet with clients or attend community events.

Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary work, requiring regular use of computer and telephone, with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
