Role Overview: The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a dynamic position whose function is to develop, lead, and manage a team of additive and manufacturing engineers responsible for product realization through metal 3D printing and post machining of Aerospace and Defense components. This position is responsible for building and fostering a team focused environment to achieve engineering and company goals. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will also be responsible for collaborating with other department and site leads to drive the creation of standard operating procedures and productionized systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Lead and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers towards company goals and objectives.
- Oversee manufacturing engineering workload to ensure on-time-start of jobs and accurate flow-down of customer and business requirements
- Short term and midterm planning to create initiatives that further Beehive Industries' goals
- Manage and evaluate individual's performance within the department (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.), developing the team to continue to grow their technical and interpersonal skills
- Drive and shape manufacturing engineering's trainings, processes, policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with company, customer, and industry standards
- Interface with customers to effectively communicate Beehive's capability and capacity
- Communicate internally with operations and shop leads to incorporate feedback on and for the engineering team
- Ensure full compliance with EHS and Quality requirements
- Work within the Beehive Quality System by helping develop and maintain operation processes
- Develop and measure Key Performance Indicators for engineering work
Basic Qualifications and Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Sciences, or close disciplines
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace, automotive, or similar manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of management experience: mentoring, training and guiding team members.
- Working knowledge of metal advanced manufacturing processes, technology, and equipment including but not limited to metal additive manufacturing, multi-axis machining, heat treatment, coatings, and surface finish improvement.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with cross-departmental teams of staff and executives
- Excellent ability to develop, enable, and empower team members
- High business acumen: Ability to understand and drive key business and engineering metrics
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving aptitude
Preferred: - AS9100/ISO9001 or equivalent (automotive, medical, etc.) experience
- Strong DMLS or other advanced manufacturing background
- Previous start-up experience
