Position Description Summary Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for an On-Campus Admissions Recruiter to lead strategic recruiting, tours, and related event strategy on our campuses in Dearborn, Michigan. We'll need an energetic team member to lead our on-campus recruiting efforts and strategy, including tours, on-campus events for prospective students, virtual visits, and other great ideas that emerge from experience and relationship building. These initiatives will help prospective students and their families become familiar with our campus, connect them with the right resources to figure out their future career, and move smoothly through the HFC application and enrollment processes.
Henry Ford College is a college of access, which means we accept students with a high school diploma or equivalent. Our students are often leaders in their families, becoming the first to seek higher education, and the careers they pursue after graduating from HFC are often life-changing. The On-Campus Recruiter will be a key team member in helping students to see themselves as belonging at Henry Ford College, and will have a direct impact on students' and families' lives.
Hours: 40 hours/week. This might be split between three days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and two days 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Some evenings and weekend work might be required. The nature of this position requires the work to largely be done on campus. Possible periodic remote opportunities could be considered after six months of highly satisfactory work, but the expectation is that the primary role will be on-campus. Schedule changes will be determined and finalized with the supervisor at the time of hire, and may change based on departmental needs and emerging opportunities. The on-campus recruiter must have reliable daily transportation to and from campus and for periodic off-campus travel.
Core Competencies and Qualifications - Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in business, education, marketing and communications, higher education administration, student development, human services, or related field.
- One or more years of relevant customer service experience including one of the following or equivalent:
- Experience working directly with high school counselors, community groups or students;
- Experience in college admissions, recruiting, or other direct student services.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Must be approachable, social, energetic, and service-focused.
- Ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, be flexible, adaptable, and creative in a rapidly changing environment, and work well under pressure in a time-sensitive, results-driven environment.
- Cross-cultural competency and cultural humility that recognizes, values, and advances the cultural assets and multiple forms of human diversity that enrich our local and broader communities.
- Ability to build productive relationships with external stakeholders such as students, families, teachers, K-12 administrators, community members, and peers.
- An affinity for technology, including the ability to learn new software systems and a good command of standard business programs which including Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
- Physical requirements: Recruiter must have the ability to:
- Sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Operate a computer for multiple business tasks and video meetings.
- Transport self as well as autonomously transport, carry, lift, and physically distribute collateral materials and branded merchandise/materials to on-campus or off-campus locations. Includes the ability to carry boxes and pull a wheeled cart containing printed collateral and branded materials that might weigh up to 40 pounds.
- Set up items such as pop-up display, backdrop, tents/tables, and related display materials without assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to - Creating, implementing, and reporting on results for strategic concepts leading to on-campus recruiting events and tours, such as a school or group of schools, community organizations, families, specific types of students (e.g. adults, recent graduates, people attending high school and college together), collaborative events, or virtual events.
- Strategizing for, leading, and reporting on results for our major on-campus events, including Discover Day in September and our Partners Breakfast in the spring.
- Offering guidance, training, and day-to-day leadership to student workers and tour leaders, and working closely with the students' supervisor (department Director or Assistant Director) to plan schedules, hire and onboard new students, etc.
- Scheduling, updating, and improving our group and individual tours to be engaging, fun, informative, and meaningful.
- Partnering with admissions and recruiting team and other HFC teams to support on-campus recruiting activities including Decision Days, Financial Aid Nights, STEM Family Days, etc., and providing ongoing support to our Welcome Center concierge, including providing information to staff and handling certain walk-in questions from student visitors.
- Partnering with the other HFC admissions recruiters, high school counselors, and community leaders to create and implement rewarding on-campus experiences for their populations.
- Along with other recruiters, assist with admissions processing work during particularly busy weeks of the year.
- Accompany other admissions recruiters to periodic off-campus events, depending on capacity, strategy, and needs;
- Other duties as assigned.
