Work Setting: Hybrid, 3 days in San Diego office, 2 days remote
This position will work fully in office for the first 90 days Reports To: Senior Director of Advancement Services
Pay Rate: $67,000 -$68,000/year

Position Overview: JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Advancement Services team as the Prospect Researcher. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your research and analytical skills, and development/fundraising experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Prospect Researcher plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by managing the identification and qualification of prospective donors in support of funding Jewish Family Service of San Diego through individual and institutional giving.This position provides comprehensive research reports to the gift officers for the purpose of cultivating a moves management and stewardship program for annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, foundations, and corporate giving. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Advancement Services and works closely with all members of the Development department.
Responsibilities : - Works independently and in collaboration with giving officers and Sr. Director of Advancement Services on the identification and qualification of fundraising prospects through donor database and various research media tools
- Conducts research and provides information and briefing reports for Senior Leadership and Development Officers in regards to prospects and their giving capacities and inclinations to give to JFS programs
- Responsible for continuously improving and streamlining the research process, exploring and identifying tools, sources, template creation, and best practices to incorporate
- Responsible for maintaining an awareness and tracking system for prospects in the various stages of cultivation and stewardship
- Works closely with other members of the Advancement Services team to maintain data integrity and donor confidentiality
Skills/Abilities/Experience That are a Must-Have: - A minimum of 2 years' experience in fundraising, prospect research and management, or business development, or a combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities that can be demonstrated
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- An understanding of development and demonstrated experience with best fundraising and moves management practices
- Outstanding ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of requests and projects with competing deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate research and analysis to Development Officers and Senior Leadership
- Experience with prospect research resources and applications such as WealthEngine, LexisNexis, Target Analytics, etc., is a plus
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, and a team player
- Strong initiative, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills
Skills/Abilities We'd like you to Have : - Experience working with a CRM database. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge, Raiser's Edge NXT or a similar Blackbaud product is a plus.
