Position Summary The Staff Systems Engineer applies fundamental systems engineering principles to manned submersible systems, guiding engineering and design activities under a program manager's direction. The role involves interacting with other OTECH personnel and developing systems engineering documentation, including concepts of operations, requirements specifications, interface control documents, hazard analysis, test plans, and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Provide system engineering activities on submarine and/or manned submersibles, adhering to US navy requirements such as SS800-AG-MAN-010/P-9290 and SUBSAFE System Certification Procedures. Ensure compliance with International Association of Classification Societies standards (ABS and/or DNV). Analyze user requirements, concepts of operations, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. Guide system development and implementation through the preparation of concept of operations, interface control documents, hazard analysis, and test plans and procedures. Display excellent technical judgment, attention to detail, and big-picture thinking in system design. Devise innovative solutions to engineering problems. Review progress and evaluate work results. Prepare reports and present findings to management and clients. Some travel may be required. Qualifications Required BS in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent experience. Master’s in Systems Engineering or equivalent experience. At least 8 years of practical Systems Engineering experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in: Developing systems engineering documentation such as plans, requirements, and interface control documents. Managing system requirements to ensure compatibility with architectures like DoDAF and SOA. Developing system and functional requirements and allocating them to hardware, software, and personnel. Participating in system engineering documentation development. Knowledge of SEDB tools (CRADLE, DOORS, etc.) and MBSE tools (ModelCenter). 5 years of design engineering experience. Ability to work in an ISO-9000 rated environment in a dynamic, demanding setting. US citizenship and active Secret security clearance. Computer Skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment. Desired Master’s degree in a related field. Experience with US Department of Defense. Recognized achievements and expertise in the field. Additional Information This position is hybrid (remote and onsite) with commuting to a designated office as needed.
