Job Opportunity

Young, welcoming, international parents seek a brilliant nanny for their gorgeous 2-year-old girl. The position is mainly in Atherton, CA, but there will be regular travel and periods of time spent in the UK and Europe. The nanny will work Monday through Friday, 10am-7pm but flexibility around this would be appreciated, particularly when travelling.

The family are open to welcoming a British or European nanny/governess to the household, and can sponsor a visa as well as provide accommodation and relocation support. The family will be spending the summer in Europe and would ideally love to meet with any UK/EU candidates while there, with the role officially starting on their return to the US at the end of August.

Responsibilities

This is very much a shared care role - both parents are at home during the day, and Mum values spending as much time as possible with her daughter. Candidates should therefore be super comfortable with playing a supporting role, and facilitating a really constructive relationship between the parents and their daughter. Responsibilities will include:

• General nursery duties, including keeping things clean and tidy, some laundry and ironing etc
• Introducing a reasonably flexible schedule that can be adapted to changing stages and situations
• Sticking to a 'no-screen' approach at all times
• Wardrobe management - seasonal switches, reviewing and organising regularly etc
• Regular 'story-time' sessions, building on her love of books
• Preparing fresh, healthy meals from scratch when required
• Encouraging and facilitating her continued social, emotional and physical development
• Really engaging with her curious mind, fostering her imagination and developing her abilities through play-based learning and allowing her to explore the world and have fun
• Accompanying her to activities and classes, researching stages and identifying new things to try
• Able to gently challenge, extend and really develop the little girl's mind

Requirements

The family are relaxed and friendly, but extremely private. The successful candidate will be:

• Extremely discreet, and excellent at reading the room - knowing when to step forward and get involved, or when to step back and allow family time
• A confident, safe driver with a clean licence
• Fun, active and full of initiative
• An excellent team-player, happy to support the parents and work alongside other staff, all of whom have been very involved in the little girl's upbringing so far
• Available to travel at short notice and for extended periods of time
• Professional and able to maintain boundaries in a relatively casual environment with no 'blurring' of the lines.
• Punctual, reliable and calm, despite what might be going on around you
• Hard-working and able to consistently maintain high standards
• Animal friendly, particularly comfortable around dogs
• Caring, nurturing, generous and kind, with a high EQ
• Aware of developmental milestones and comfortable with instilling good manners and respect for others
